Progressing from a HND in Sport Therapy, I graduated from Strathclyde University with an Honours Degree in Sports Science and Development.
I took up Karate aged 15 and was awarded my black belt by Master Mistusuke Harada, Europe's most senior Karate Master. I then became a National Karate instructor and progressed to the rank of 4th Dan. I have also practised Aikido for several years.
Having followed the growing sport of Strongman on TV for many years, I decided to give it a go and in 2002 was the highest placed Novice in my first amateur competition. I was instantly hooked and have since entered over 20 competitions, including Scotland’s strongest man in 2006.
My other feats of strength include the lifting of the world famous 'Dinnie stones' and 'Clach cuid fir' or testing stones. I have also lifted The Menzies Stone and The Inverstone. I am an accomplished downhill skier and keen snowboarder and over the last 20 years I have skied throughout much of Europe.
I have always led an active and healthy lifestyle and it remains very much a passion rather than an obsession.
I practise what I preach, and I find it continually rewarding to coach others to transform their life through health, fitness and an understanding of nutrition and diet.
In the past 24 years, I have helped hundreds of people to regain their health, happiness, and physique through a tried and tested programme of progressive training and following a nutritional diet.
I look forward to doing the same for you.
"I've given Stephen only 5 stars because there is not the option for more.
I cannot recommend Stephen Murray more highly.
Having avoided all forms of exercise all of my life, I finally took the giant leap and looked for a Personal Trainer here on Yell."
"There was more chance of me winning the lottery, than actually going to a gym but I looked anyway.
But then I saw that Murrayfitness was a PRIVATE gym - not an expensive private health club, but a private gym, with a private changing room.
I went along for a chat and the rest is history."
"I no longer smoke, and with Stephen's advice, I eat much better.
Stephen doesn't lecture, bully or shout at you, but somehow you end up "wanting" to do what he says and whilst (having done no exercise ever) I did struggle initially, Stephen's infectious enthusiasm, and sense of humour somehow got me thru the early days and now (unbelievably) I actually enjoy going there.
My only regret is I didn't go to him a long long time ago."
If you have any questions regarding my training services, please get in touch with me so we can talk about it as soon as possible.
